This year, the School of Business will host its Faith & Ethics Week during March 4 through March 8. The annual Faith & Ethics Week is a meaningful, week-long series of events for students and friends of the MC School of Business focused on the responsibilities, opportunities, and challenges facing Christian business leaders. Our keynote speaker for the Luncheon will be Mary Brock, co-owner of the WNBA Atlanta Dream. She joined the Atlanta Dream's ownership group in January 2011 and is an avid sports advocate. A native of Moss Point, MS, Mary graduated summa cum laude from Miami University of Ohio, earning her Bachelor of Science in Science and Math Education and her Masters of Science Education in Curriculum Development.
The Brocks, who grew up together on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, were married 45 years ago while John was a student at Georgia Tech, and moved to Atlanta eight years ago. Previously, they lived in Wilton, CT, and Cincinnati, OH, and a 10-year stint in Europe, living in Brussels, Belgium, and London. They have three children – Rebecca, John IV and Major – and five grandchildren – John V, Everett Mary, Leighton Annise, Lily Anise and Alexis Noelle.

John Damon
John Damon’s clinical and executive leadership experience spans more than 25 years. Joining Canopy in 1993, he began as a therapist at the CARES Center Jackson. He went on to become Clinical Director and serve in the capacity of CARES Center Director and Chief Operating Officer before transitioning to CEO in 2013. As the primary public figure for the organization, John plays a critical role in fostering relationships between Canopy and other leading healthcare providers, political entities, and professional thought leaders and organizations.
John holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Mississippi College, a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Reformed Theological Seminary, and a doctorate in Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from Jackson State University. He completed his residency in Child Psychology at University of Mississippi Medical Center. John has presented to the U.S. Senate Caucus Committee as well as state, regional, and national audiences on foster care, mental health, and substance abuse. He is a published author where his work has appeared in numerous books and peer reviewed journals for children’s behavioral health. John and his wife are proud parents of five children. They attend Broadmoor Baptist Church and reside in Madison, Mississippi.
David Leake
After receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) ("UT"), David Leake attended law school at UT from 1966 to 1968. Upon receiving his law degree, he entered military service as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General Corps (JAGC) of the United States Army. After his military tour was completed in 1974, Mr. Leake returned to private law practice in Memphis for the next 46 years. Mr. Leake is currently a senior member of the Winchester Law Firm, PLLC of Memphis TN.
Mr. Leake is also a member of the Memphis Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Association, a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation, and a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. Mr. Leake was named to the Mid-South “Super Lawyers” list in the area of real estate. David Leake has been a lifelong Shelby County resident who is married to the former Judy Cole. David and Judy are the proud parents of four married daughters and grandparents of seven granddaughters and four grandsons. The Leakes are members of Second Presbyterian Church of Memphis, where Mr. Leake serves as an Elder.
Joseph Morrison
Joe Morrison received his Bachelor’s Degree from the Engineering School at Vanderbilt University, and he received his MBA from the Owen School at Vanderbilt University. Mr. Morrison has worked in the financial industry since 1989. He was associated with regional investment consulting firms from 1989 until 2000. In 2000, the President of Morgan Keegan recruited him to join Morgan Keegan & Co. While Mr. Morrison was managing a large client base as a portfolio manager for Morgan Asset Management, he also was a regional manager overseeing other portfolio managers for Morgan Asset Management. When Mr. Morrison determined he wanted to spend more time with his clients, he left Morgan Asset Management and co-founded Sentry, LLC. Mr. Morrison holds the designation as a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Mr. Morrison is currently serving on several boards including the Memphis University School Board and Chickasaw Council, Boy Scouts of America. He is also a board member of Neighborhood Christian Centers, Renasant Bank – WTN Advisory Board, and Second Presbyterian Church. In the past, Mr. Morrison has served as a board member of Presbyterian Day School and Vanderbilt University Alumni Board.
Jenny Phillips
Jenny Phillips graduated from Mississippi College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and a Minor in Business in 1994. The following year, Jenny earned a Master of Science in Communication, also from MC. Jenny began her career with the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) in 1994, serving as the Communication Director. From 1998 to 2005, Jenny worked for Unified Brands, a division of the Dover Corporation and leading commercial kitchen equipment manufacturer of foodservice and restaurant equipment. While at Unified Brands, Jenny served in various roles including Marketing and Trade Show Coordinator, Manager of Customer Support/Inside Sales/Technical Services, and Director of Customer Support.
In 2005, Jenny became Vice President of Operations for Sheldon Laboratory Systems, Inc. in Crystal Springs, MS. Founded in 1898, Sheldon designs and manufactures the most innovative and durable lab furnishings available for elementary, middle, high school, and college laboratories. Since joining Sheldon, Jenny has seen the company increase productivity, efficiency and profitability. In June of 2012, Jenny was named Chief Operating Officer for Sheldon. In her role as COO, she oversees the company’s day-to day operations including customer support/inside sales, project management, human resources, engineering, design, purchasing, manufacturing, safety and maintenance. Jenny lives in Clinton, with her husband Chad (93, 98) who serves as Mississippi College’s Digital Media and Communications Manager and their daughter Gracie who is a Senior at Clinton High School.
