Entrepreneur in Residence – Doug Murphy

Starting in November and continuing through the spring, Doug Murphy will be the first entrepreneur in residence for the MC School of Business entrepreneurship program. Doug will be participating in different entrepreneurship classes and offer advice to students who would like to discuss the process of starting a business. He will also have an office in Self Hall so that he can mentor students through the different stages of their business ideas. In the spring, Doug will help be a part of the judging panel that will choose the winners of the Business Plan Competition.

Doug has a solid track record in taking start-up companies through business expansion. He served as the president and founder of Promoversity from 2010 to 2018. Promoversity is a company that focuses on the collegiate market, including bookstores, students, and department buyers. He built sales to more than $10 million over four years with more than 1,000 client colleges and universities. Doug sold the business to B&N College.

Dr. Eduardo says, “Doug Murphy will be a significant addition to the J. L. Holloway Center for Entrepreneurship. As a successful entrepreneur, he will contribute greatly to our preparation of future entrepreneurs. We are very excited to have someone of Doug’s talent to help us launch this center.” The Entrepreneur in Residence is an initiative that is a key part of the J. L. Holloway Center for Entrepreneurship.

Mississippi College’s School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the premier business school accreditation in the world.
