The School of Business is proud to celebrate two of its distinguished accounting faculty members, Dr. Billy Morehead and Dr. Brooks Poole, for their leadership and service within Mississippi's accounting profession.
Dr. Billy Morehead was recently elected Vice-Chairman/Chairman-Elect of the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) at the organization's annual meeting in June. He will serve as Vice-Chairman/Chairman-Elect from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, before assuming the role of MSCPA Chairman of the Board for the 2027–2028 term. Following his service as Chairman, Dr. Morehead will continue serving on the Board as Immediate Past Chairman through June 30, 2029. Throughout these three years, he will also serve on the MSCPA Executive Committee. This prestigious appointment reflects the confidence and respect he has earned among his peers through his dedication to the accounting profession and his commitment to educating the next generation of business leaders.
The School of Business also recognizes Dr. Brooks Poole, who serves on the MSCPA Board of Governors as the representative for the Central Chapter. Elected to a two-year term that extends through June 30, 2027, Dr. Poole's leadership and service exemplify the same passion and professionalism that have made him a valued member of our faculty and mentor to countless students.
These accomplishments are a testament to the caliber of faculty members who call the School of Business home. Both Dr. Morehead and Dr. Poole have devoted years to investing in their students, sharing their expertise in the classroom, and preparing graduates for successful careers in accounting and business. Their influence extends far beyond campus, as they continue to serve and lead within their profession throughout the state. Their leadership roles within the MSCPA are a reflection of the excellence they demonstrate every day.
