The Mississippi College School of Business is helping students bridge the gap between theory and practice through the Mississippi College Student Investment Fund, a hands-on learning opportunity that allows students to manage real money in an educational setting. The fund gives students practical experience in portfolio management and security analysis, helping them understand how financial principles apply in real markets.
As part of this student-managed fund, participants work together to research, analyze, and select investment opportunities, while monitoring and adjusting the portfolio in accordance with the Fund’s investment policy statement. The fund currently has over half a million dollars invested, offering students a meaningful opportunity to apply what they learn in class to real-world financial decisions.
This experience not only strengthens students’ understanding of investing but also helps build confidence in professional decision-making. Beyond the classroom, the MC Student Investment Fund serves as a valuable stepping stone toward future careers in finance, giving students a competitive edge in the job market and helping prepare them for professional certifications.
